Crawford's Golf Daily, For September 1st, 2014

By Gregory Crawford---COO of Kiyokawa Crawford Sports Management @wchoops @crawssportsbiz and @kcsportsmgmt

Portland Classic----It was good week for the Portland Classic, presented by Cambia Health Solutions on the LPGA Tour.

While the crowds were not what they use to be at the tournament, the Sunday crowd was excellent. The weather all week was great and of course per usual, Columbia Edgewater was in superb golfing condition for the best women golfers in the world.

Now for the future. No one wants to have to wait until the spring to decide if the Portland Classic will return. It is hoped that Cambia and other potential sponsors will make quick decision to return and it sure appears that way, so the event can be official, before the LPGA schedule is announced for 2015.

In its 43rd year, the Portland Classic is a special sporting event and means a lot to the Portland/SW Oregon area. It appears everyone is one the right track, let's just hope they make the final station.

Crawford's Golf Daily----Starting this week, the main focus of Crawford's Golf Daily will be on the business side of golf and promoting the game. It is easy to find scores and stories on golfers, but in talking to many of you readers, you would like to see more in this blog about the business side of golf and your wishes will be granted from here on out.  So if you have a tournament you are thinking about doing for next year for charity, we will be glad to promote it right here.

Oregon Turfgrass Foundation----Speaking of tournaments, there is still openings for players in the Oregon Turfgrass Foundation's annual tournament at Royal Oaks Country Club on September 8th, with a 12:30 start. It was recently announced that Leupold & Stevens will become the title sponsor for the tournament. To sign up or if you would like more information, please go to www.oregonturfgrassfoundation.org
