NBC Saying Good-Bye---- On this Father's Day weekend, it will be sad to see the NBC golf crew televise their last men's U.S. Open golf event for the USGA, perhaps for the next 50 years.
It was announced within the last year that Fox Sports has secured the exclusive rights to televise all USGA championships for the next 15 years. Ironically their first ever golf telecast will be the 2015 U.S. Open to be played at Chambers Bay, just outside of Tacoma, Washington.
We should never forget the work of Dan Hicks, Johnny Miller, Roger Maltbie, Gary Koch and Mark Rolfing for NBC.
Actually I prefer Nick Faldo to Johnny Miller as an analyst, but Miller is iconic and needs to always have a presence in golf. Hicks at present is the best golf commentator in the business and one can never argue with the work of Koch, Maltbie and Rolfing, the most consistent people on the crew in the last 15 years.
So thank you NBC, best to Fox Sports and their new crew of Joe Buck and Greg Norman.
