In 1987, Miami University became the first university in the country to sign an exclusive deal with a sports company for apparel and shoes. That company was Nike. In August of 2015 Miami's present contract with Nike is set to expire, in what could be an end to a 27 year partnership.

At present both Under Armour and Adidas have offers on the table to Miami, of which Nike has the opportunity to match.
